The Licensed Mental Health Counselor will be a salaried employee working at a small private practice helping individuals manage and overcome mental and emotional issues. The Mental Health Counselor will listen to clients and ask questions to help understand their assigned client’s problems and develop strategies to help improve their lives. The Counselor will diagnose, treat, and help clients develop coping strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluating client through conversations, interviews, and observations to determine correct testing or examination
- Diagnosing client mental and emotional disorders
- Treating clients using evidence-based counseling techniques and interventions
- Educating the client on strategies and coping skills
- Assessing client needs and developing strategies to help the client
- Assisting clients with a variety of issues such as but not limited to trauma, depression, anxiety, relationships, stress, and personal development
- Setting client goals and discussing a treatment plan
Requirements and Qualifications
- Hold an active unrestricted LISW-CP/LPC or provisional license in the State of South Carolina
- Possess Liability Insurance- $1,000,000/$3,000,000 policy
- Experience and knowledge of the DSM-V
- Strong clinical written documentation and effective communication with staff
- Ability to multi-task, including skills in organizing and prioritizing tasks effectively
- Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands
- Not required, but currently credentialed with Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, and Cigna
